Get Up and Walk

The following chapter is from my book Follow The White Rabbit.

CHAPTER 38

GET UP AND WALK

One of my favorite stories ascribed to the life of Jesus comes from John 5. It describes a man who had been crippled for 38 years. Understanding his condition, Jesus approaches the man and asks the following:

“Do you want to get well?”

The man routinely begins his sob story about how he doesn’t have anyone to help him get into the pool, and how everyone cuts in front of him. Conditioned by the usual sympathy, he seems to thrive off of the “poor me” story. Jesus was smart enough to understand that some people really don’t want to be well—they’re addicted to the pity they receive from others. With that in mind, Jesus didn’t respond to his pitiful story, he simply said:

“Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”

The man immediately picked up his mat and walked.

I believe that all healing begins in your mind. Your intention (decision) to be well combined with Source Energy (God Energy) gives you the power to move mountains. It’s the same energy stream Jesus was consistently connected to. The only difference is: He was convinced of his consistent connection.

                Ask. Believe. Receive.

Some humans don’t really want to “be well.” Like the man at the well, they’ve become accustomed to a particular life pattern, and at some point they actually lose hope for any real transformation. They believe they are doomed to stay in their present condition or situation.

                Ask. Believe. Receive.

The man at the well was subconsciously asking for more sympathy—it became his pattern. He believed he was doomed to stay in that condition, so day after day, that’s what he received.

Ask. Believe. Receive.
