Genesis 9:3-4 reads:
"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting from his fellow man."
In other words, murder for meat is unacceptable. Thou shalt not kill. If the animal is already dead, it is acceptable to consume its flesh. However, causing any being to suffer to satisfy your gluttonous desires creates a karmic debt, for which, you will be held accountable.
The Hindu Holy Book -- the Bhagavad Gita -- says this:
"I look upon all creatures equally; none are less dear to me and none are more dear."
I believe this includes all creatures with eyes, ears, appendages, and the ability to experience pain. This means
all creatures: dogs, cows, deer, humans, pigs, chickens, and even cats. Okay, maybe all creatures except cats. :]
Human beings are herbivores. Their teeth and digestive tracks weren't created for meat consumption. For more information, and an easy-to-follow chart, simply click

Earthlings is a thought-provoking documentary that highlights humanity's negative effect on nature and the animal kingdom.
Pain and suffering is pain and suffering -- no matter the species.
Being a dog-lover, I was inspired to watch the film. It had a transformative effect on my life. I began the process of eliminating dead animal flesh from my diet. And I love ribs and chicken wings more than I love women. And I love women long time.
If you, like most Americans, were outraged by the abuse of dogs by Michael Vick, you'll likely get a lot from this documentary.
