Eagles and Crows

The following chapter is from my book Follow The White Rabbit.

Chapter 49

EAGLES AND CROWS

This chapter was inspired by a sermon given by one of my favorite pastors—Joel Osteen. The sermon dealt with how to effectively handle criticism. I know Joel deals with a lot of unfair criticism, because he’s a “feel-good” preacher. I always enjoy Joel’s messages; I like to feel good.

Anyhow, Joel used a metaphor to describe how we should deal with the “haters” in our lives. He used the eagle and the crow to illustrate this point. If an eagle is soaring through the sky, and encounters a pesky crow, he doesn’t waste energy meddling with the crow—he simply soars higher. The eagle is smart enough to understand that the crow can’t ascend to his level.

When some crow-like human tries to bring negativity into your life, just fly higher. Don’t sacrifice your nobility as a mighty eagle, by stooping down to the crow’s level. Let the crows fight amongst themselves. You’re an eagle; you’ve been created to soar.

I had the opportunity to interview illusionist Criss Angel on my radio show. If you’ve ever watched his show Mindfreak on A&E, you know he pushes the limits, in regards to most people’s comfort zones.

I asked him, “How do you deal with haters?”
