Consistent Contentment

The following chapter is from my book Your Truth Will Set You Free.

Chapter 63

CONSISTENT CONTENTMENT

I have a magnet on my refrigerator that reads: “Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.”

This idea expands on the last chapter. When you’re able to “simplify,” your happiness is no longer attached to something “outside yourself.” Humans who are “caught in the Matrix” are attached to “happiness illusions” that exist outside of themselves.

As you begin to cultivate The Nice Life, your awareness will begin to shift towards becoming an “appreciator.” I talk about this concept in Chapter 48 of Follow the White Rabbit. Appreciation is the key to consistent contentment.

                Appreciate! Appreciate! Appreciate!

                Although, one “Appreciate” would’ve sufficed.

In Chapter 20 of Follow the White Rabbit, I talk about creating a “Book of Positive Aspects.” Basically, it’s a $1 spiral notebook that creates an amazing opportunity for you to chronicle all the wonderful things you already experience in your life. Ideally, you’ll sit down every day and write the following at the top of your page: “Things I’m Grateful for Today.”

I always list a page full of simple (or not-so-simple) things I have to be grateful for on that day. For example, some things I’m grateful for today are:

1.)  Being inspired with the exact final four chapters of this book!

2.)  The wonderful atmosphere in which to write, here at Barnes & Noble.

3.)  Coffee!

4.)  This laptop—which was a wonderful gift that gives me mobility options.

5.)  That lady who was brave enough to bring her dog inside the café.

6.)  This word processor, which automatically adds the punctuation in the word “café.”

7.)  My “new creation” butterfly-ring that I wear on my pinky keeps me focused on my connection to the Christ-Energy.

8.)  Old people. They’re so gentle; full of wisdom and joy.

9.)  That hot babe checking me out beside the magazine rack proves I clean up nicely.

10.)  My “new creation” butterfly-ring that reminds me to not fall victim to the seductive temptation of hot babes who check me out beside the magazine rack.  :]

11.)  Hot water.

12.)  Salt and pepper.

You get the point. Cultivating “consistent contentment” in your life is really easy. All you have to do is shift your awareness. Remember, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Embrace the wisdom of Chapter 8 of Follow the White Rabbit, and choose the proper perspective.
