Choose Your Emotions

The following chapter is from my book Follow The White Rabbit.

CHAPTER 44

CHOOSE YOUR EMOTIONS

Most humans go through life allowing outside circumstances to dictate their inner emotional being. If situations are favorable, they’ll feel happy. If situations are unfavorable, they’ll feel sad. They’re not “creators,” they’re “reactors.”

The Bible tells us we’re made in the image and likeness of God. That means we all have long white beards and live in the clouds. Just kidding. It means we all have the same creative power that God has. We’re each responsible for the creation of our life-experience—whether we know this or not. Genesis 1:3 reads:

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”

So the assistant to the Alien Creators flipped on the operating room’s light switch. Just kidding. Definitely maybe sure perhaps.

Super-God used the present moment to speak light into existence. God had the thought I would like some light. God spoke the words, “Let there be light.” A big bang took place, and light was brought into existence.

You have the same creative power within you. You are responsible for every aspect of your creation. Circumstances can happen all around you—they’re just circumstances. It’s merely cause-and-effect.

Your boss is having a bad day because his son got arrested for DUI, so he takes it out on you. He yells at you and calls you “Stupid.” That’s merely an effect of his son’s arrest. Your boss has decided to use his creative, present-moment power to plant a destructive seed. You don’t have to be a part of his poisonous harvest. Instead, use your newly-cultivated emotion of empathy (that we’ll cover in Chapter 46), and understand that he’s just having a bad day. You’ve had bad days before. Don’t add any fuel to the fire by tossing back some poison of your own.

Choose the emotion of empathy. Choose the emotion of self-control. Choose the emotion of compassion. When your boss cools down, and apologizes for his stupid remark, choose the emotion of forgiveness.
